In the bookmaking and Image sequencing workshop you will learn how to make a simple hand made photo book as well as explore the importance of image sequencing. This workshop is designed to change the way you think about your photographic/creative practice. The simple act of thinking about sequences and work for books can revolutionise your approach to your work.
Day one
We will spend the morning of the workshop looking at some simple hand made books and showing examples of ways of image sequencing. This will give you some basic concepts of how different books are made and how we might think about ordering images expressively.
Daniel will then demonstrate how to make three different types of photo-book with a cover. We will discuss the practicalities of putting a book together and why you might choose one book type over another.
We ask that all participants bring a selection of images no bigger than 6"x4" in size to make a sequence and book from in the afternoon. Images any bigger than 6"x4" we will struggle to accommodate into a book form using the materials we have. We ask you to bring no more than 30 images to sequence.
In sequencing your images we will reveal the type of book that will be suitable for your work.
Day two
On day two you will construct you hand made photobook. During the day you will have help and support from Daniel. By the end of the day you will have a completely finished hand made book, filled with your images to take home and new range of skill to practice at home.
Please note that, as with all of our workshops, we need a certain number of attendees to run the event. If for any reason we have to postpone or reschedule the workshop we will inform you 1 week prior to the workshop date. We are able to either fully refund the ticket or move your booking to a rescheduled date.
