RA4 Colour Paper Positive Workshop with Laura Allen - 1st June 2024

RA4 is a colour printing process, usually used to make prints from colour negatives. 

In this workshop you will learn that it is possible to make prints directly from camera to print, creating a negative on paper (paper negative) and reversing the negative into a positive, in daylight. Using daylight to process a positive, the final image reveal is quite magical and goes against the traditional norms with such darkroom processes. It results in true one-of-a-kind image made using large format cameras 5x4 and 8x10 

 

Using large format cameras; you will learn some very basic lighting for still life subjects.  These will be supplied for you develop your skill. However, you are encouraged to bring your own and see what is possible to make for your images. 

 

Equipment and materials will be provided.  You will be instructed on how to use the camera as well as the lights, including the process itself. An open mind, notebook and a willingness to explore the photographic process is all that will be needed for the workshop. The workshop is open to all abilities, but some camera knowledge would be useful but not essential.

This workshop will start at 10am and finish at 4pm
